The Scottsburg Warriors and Warriorettes cross country teams traveled to Muscatatuck County Park on Saturday to compete in the annual Ray Gerkin Invitational against a deep field of area programs. On the girls side, Seymour claimed the team title with a score of 57, followed closely by Jennings County (59) and Bedford North Lawrence (69). Scottsburg did not field a full scoring team but had three strong individual performances. Addison Elliott led the Warriorettes, crossing the line in 25:16. She was followed by Briley Bary in 25:45, and Addison Eldridge in 27:29. On the boys side, Seymour also captured the team championship with 47 points, edging Jennings County (65) and Columbus East (75). Scottsburg once again competed with limited numbers but put together two solid finishes: Kameron Reed turned in a strong run, clocking a 18:24. He was followed by Gavin Curley, who finished in 19:40. The meet provided valuable experience for the Warriors and Warriorettes as they continue to prepare for the heart of the fall schedule. Scottsburg will look to build on these efforts in their upcoming meets.
